In the late ’50s, photogenic, honey-voiced TV star Ricky Nelson’s tunes made him a rock ’n’ roll idol. By the early ’70s, he’d reinvented himself as a country-rocking singer/songwriter; he continued to tour until his untimely passing in 1985.
