Born on April 21, 1948, in Meridian, Mississippi, Paul Davis signed to Bang Records as a solo artist in 1970. With his soft, country-inflected style, he had several minor hits; his first was a cover of the Jarmels' 1961 doo wop hit "A Little Bit of Soap."
